Like Louis Comfort Tiffany in America, Siegfried Bing helped create a new vision of the decorative arts in Europe. As a successful entrepreneur with an eye for the new, Bing generated enthusiasm for Japanese art (Van Gogh bought hundreds of Japanese woodcuts from Bing) and later, through his gallery, Maison de l'Art Nouveau, helped launch the turn-of-the-century art movement that bears its name. In addition to presenting a compelling portrait of the often elusive Mr. Bing, this film also highlights his collaboration with L.C. Tiffany.
