NameTrieste liberty. Costruire e abitare l’alba del novecento
DescriptionMeeting in Trieste for a great show on Liberty, just opened a location in strict style: the Hall of Enchantment of the former Fish Market, delicious sea palace dated 1911, which housed the fish market today and is a venue for exhibitions and events. Here were collected over 500 drawings, photographs, documents, publications, tables, furnishings, three rooms have been recreated liberty, with the historic stained glass windows at the Excelsior Palace Hotel, and have been counted more than 150 historic houses . All to tell "how you built and how you lived in Trieste in the early '900 ', when the city was the port (ex) of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Vienna almost a small sea. And just arrived from Vienna more suggestions for what might be termed the "liberty of Trieste": the proto-rationalism of Otto Wagner and the Secession Olbrich Hoffman, the Jugendstil, which are mixed with the taste of floral Italian. Result, elegant buildings from the doorways decorated and balconies of wrought iron, that can be seen not only in the historical center, but also in residential neighborhoods where the rich merchant class chooses to settle down, to create a fascinating and eclectic mix that is a bit 'the figure of the city, from all points of view.
