Exhibition Crossed fires at the Musée de l’Ecole de Nancy – from 28 September 2013 to 19 January 2014

Concurrently with the exhibition “Meisenthal, the sacred fire” organized at the Poirel Galleries, the Museum presents series of contemporary glass works created at the International Center of glass-work Art of Meisenthal, establishing a parallel with glassworks of Emile Gallé realized with this same glasswork manufacture, one century ago.

3rd Multilateral Exchange of the RANN at the Helsinki City hall – on 4 October 2013

“Art Nouveau architecture, building protection and restoration policies - cases from different European cities”

The goal of this exchange day is to compare the legislations used in different European countries and possibly to see the evolution of legislations in Europe since the first multilateral exchange on the same topic (Brussels, December 2010). The interesting issue of the Art Nouveau heritage restoration will also be part of the topic of this day.
The informal meeting, practical and in a small group will allow a direct dialogue and a sharing of knowledge between interested co-organisers and professionals. A great space will be dedicated to practical presentations (for example PowerPoint Presentation, administrative files, city budgets dedicated to restoration of listed buildings, etc…), questions and debates.
The presentations on protection polities and financial supports can be done at the level of listed buildings in the city scale or can be a specific study case concerning one Art Nouveau listed building.

International colloquium "Art Nouveau and Asia" in Nice – from 26 to 28 September 2013

Organized by the FEDERPAC program of the IrASIA and Aix-Marseille University with the collaboration of the Réseau Art Nouveau Network and the Nice University.

The Réseau Art Nouveau Network will be presented by its President during the colloquium.

Release of the 21th issue of the coupDefouet magazine from Barcelona

CoupDefouet is published by the Urban Landscape Institute of the Barcelona City Council, which has the common commitment to find useful and efficient mechanisms for the protection and promotion of Europe's Art Nouveau heritage.

This new issue is especially interesting as it highlights the travelling exhibition “The Nature of Art Nouveau” organised by the RANN, which will simultaneously in Brussels and Helsinki on 4 October 2013.

7th Art Nouveau and Art Deco Biennial in Brussels – from 5 to 27 October 2013

When the doors of private homes in Brussels open to the public!

The 7th Art Nouveau and Art Deco Biennial Event will be held in October 2013. Over 4 weekends, Voir et Dire Bruxelles will organise guided tours of interiors and guided walks which will promote the rich diversity of architecture in Brussels from 1893 to 1939.
The Biennial Event is a unique opportunity to go inside private homes that are lived in every day and loved by their owners, whose history is shared with the public by professional guides.
The exhibition “The Nature of Art Nouveau” organised by the Réseau Art Nouveau Network will be presented during the third week-end of the Biennal, on 19 and 20 October 2013.

30th European Heritage Days – 14 and 15 September 2013

The 2013 edition of the Heritage Days in the Brussels Capital Region will take place on 14th and 15th September on the theme: "Brussels, m’as-tu vu?/Brussels show off".
This year, the Heritage Days celebrate their 25th anniversary in Belgium: the perfect opportunity for a festive programme with over 100 venues and lots of events around Art Nouveau heritage.

In Nancy the Villa Majorelle, listed as Historic Monuments since 1996, is open on Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 12 am and 2 to 6 pm.
Free entrance, access to the ground-floor and the garden.
At the Musée de l’Ecole de Nancy, the aquarium (listed) and the garden (registered) are stamped as Historic Monuments, since 1998.
The Museum will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Free entrance with exceptional opening of the aquarium.

Exhibition Posters of Art Nouveau – New Technology about 1900 at Badehaus 3 in Sprudelhof of Bad Nauheim – from 1st to 29 September 2013

The exhibition presents copies of posters designed by famous Art Nouveau artists: the designed posters of Toulouse-Lautrec, Cheret, Bradley and many others advertise for automobiles, bicycles, telephones, electricity and a lot of innovations. The rapid development of mobility, communication and energy together with all social and political changes illustrate the beginning of a new era in the early days of the 20th century.
Opening hours: Tuesday – Friday from 2.00 pm – 6.00 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11.00 am – 6.00 pm

8th Jugendstil Festival in Bad Nauheim – from 6 to 8 September 2013

Living history! Bad Nauheim celebrates its cultural heritage during the Jugendstilfestival in the largest connected construction of Jugendstil in Europe. Jugendstil lovers will enjoy themselves strolling through the handcraft market where more than 60 selected restorer and artists expose the large manual repertoire from that time. It is a pleasure to take a look over the restorers’ shoulders and admire all the examples of ceramic-, mosaic-, glass-, wood- and jewel works. Moreover many events such as music performances, fashion shows, exhibitions and guided tours through the art nouveau buildings will take place during the whole festival.

Conference In Search of Perfection: The Legacy of Art Nouveau at the University of Technology in Vienna – from 24 to 25 August 2013

Jugendstil, Secession, Liberty, Модерн - those are facets of one cultural phenomenon Art Nouveau. This International movement left imperishable masterpieces in the field of art, architecture and applied arts in the different parts of Europe.
The aim of the conference is to explore the social, political and philosophical context of Art Nouveau and promote the heritage of this style.
This two-day conference is aimed at both academics and heritage professionals, or simply enthusiasts of Art Nouveau. Art historians, philosophers, sociologists, and journalists are invited to join the forum.

Art Nouveau works from the Ecole de Nancy presented at the exhibition "Art Nouveau" at the Pinacothèque of Paris – from 18 April to 8 September 2013

The exhibition "Art Nouveau, the decorative revolution "presented at the Pinacothèque in Paris is the first French Art Nouveau retrospective in Paris since 1960. Real great event, it presents more than two hundred objects which, in all fields of life and arts, have turned upside down the aesthetic and the cultural thought of the world which lived then under classicism and academicism for more than three centuries.
Among them appear numerous works coming from creators of the Ecole de Nancy, like a tea table with tray of Louis Majorelle, a mural cabinet of Emile Gallé, as well as lamps and vases of Daum Frères.

Exhibition Egon Schiele and his age at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest – from 26 June to 29 September 2013

The Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest, by way of a continuation of its exhibition presenting Gustav Klimt and the early Secession offers an insight into the work of the most outstanding artist of the following generation: Egon Schiele, and through his contemporaries into the development of Viennese Expressionism, the school that superseded Jugendstil.

The 70 works coming from the world’s richest Schiele collection, the Leopold Museum in Vienna, will be complemented by drawings and paintings by Schiele, coming from other prestigious collections and further works by Schiele, Oscar Kokoschka and Carl Moll from the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts.

New presentation of the graphic Cabinet : more Schiele at the Leopold Museum in Vienna

The Leopold Museum shows more Schiele!

Elisabeth Leopold has personally selected fine graphic masterworks rarely displayed of the Leopold II Collection for this new presentation, complemented by paintings of the Ernst Ploil Collection.
