Le Val Saint Lambert c'est cela: 180 ans d'un savoir-faire maîtrisé avec audace et un cristal parmi les plus purs de toute la planète. Le génie technique des cristalleries mais aussi la créativité de ses artisans ont bâti la réputation internationale du Val Saint Lambert. Créée en 1826, la manufacture allait rapidement s'imposer sur toutes les routes vouées au commerce qui ont traversé le XIXe siècle: des palais des maharadjahs aux wagons de l'Orient-Express en passant par les tables d'apparat de la haute société belge et européenne, le cristal liégeois s'imposa comme une évidence. Aujourd'hui, riche de ses racines et de sa créativité, le Val Saint Lambert poursuit son essor et continue d'imposer sa signature. Ce sont les étapes majeures de son développement, les lignes de forces de son expression artistique (Art Nouveau et Art Déco)que ce livre, riche de pièces inédites, a pour objet de vous faire découvrir. At the end of the nineteenth century, the Maelbeek valley offered a unique setting for the development of a new residential district. Its squares, water features, fountains and tree-lined avenues attracted wealthy middle-class residents who commissioned the most talented architects of the period to design their homes. The district became a veritable laboratory of late nineteenth-century architecture, with facades in a wide variety of styles, from unfettered Eclecticism to Art nouveau, then at its zenith.
