Exhibition The Cradle of Art Nouveau. Victor Horta and Brussels at the Halles Saint-Géry in Brussels – from 8 January to 16 March 2014

The Monuments and Sites Department of the Brussels-Capital Region in cooperation with Visit Brussels, invite you to discover the exhibition “The Cradle of Art Nouveau. Victor Horta and Brussels”.

After its presentation at the American Institute of Architects in Washington in 2012, this travelling exhibition developed in four languages is organized from 8 January until 16 March 2014 at the Halles Saint-Géry, at the heart of Brussels.

Richly illustrated, the exhibition highlights the most beautiful realisations of the architect Victor Horta, registered on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and plunge the visitor in the intimacy of the creation of one of the greatest Art Nouveau artists, movement which has revolutionized the European spatial and architectural conceptions at the dawn of the XXth century. The Tassel, Solvay and Van Eetvelde Hôtels, as well as the personal house of the architect mix with the dismantled magnificence of the Aubecq Hôtel, demolished during the 1950’s, but of which a part of the façades, as a giant jigsaw, was recently put back together.

Free entrance from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
