La Belle Epoque de Jules Chéret. De l'affiche au décor
Dates:1/01/2050-1/01/2999

Dates:1/01/2050-1/01/2999
Emile Galle is - if not the master of Art Nouveau - at least one of its major artists. After decades of neglect, his works are now widely recognized and his artistic ideas were recorded by him in numerous writings (articles, letters, forewords, records show ...). In 1908, four years after his death, his widow wrote a first selection of his texts under the title "Writing for Art" (reprinted in this volume). In The Art of Love, François Le Tacon has assembled all Gallé's writings related to art, supplemented by descriptions of important masterpieces by Gallé himself (Table Flore de Lorraine, Way to Fall, Field of Blood, for example) and the description of many pieces held by exceptional collectors as Robert de Montesquiou. All these texts and descriptions are illustrated with color reproductions of works by Gallé (works, drawings, sketches ...). The publication of Gallé's texts gathered under the title "L'Amour de l'Art", is organized around six thematic sections : Considerations on Art, Art and Industry, The School of Nancy, Ceramics, Glass, Wood. Edition established and annotated by François Le Tacon. 2010. Format 20 x 26 cm. 360 pages in color, with approximately 100 reproductions of works. Hardback bound, color coated with dust jacket. Price: 35 euros.

Les Maisons du Peuple en Wallonie
Dates:1/01/2050-1/01/2999
Prix: 25€.

Art Nouveau and Malta - An Introduction
Dates:1/01/2050-1/01/2999
This catalogue covers an exhibition that aims to evoke memories of a not too distant past when applied arts were first acknowledged as actual art forms. Indeed, Art Nouveau was the predominant style at the turn of the 20th century. Its exponents convincingly believed that everything and anything had the potential to and could be termed as 'art'. Perhaps no other style is so conceptually close to Heritage Malta's mission and vision, which is that of bringing art and culture closer to the public. Alphonse Mucha's quest for beauty drove him to produce splendid works of art which include successful designs for packaging and applied arts. He raised the profile of everyday objects which are now considered as things of beauty in their own right. It could be said that Mucha was the Andy Warhol (1928-1987) of his time by popularising art through simple everyday objects which were presented artistically and with flair. This exhibition is one of many projects that we are committed to undertake so as to promote appreciation and understanding of the arts in general. Such events while complementing our own very extensive wealth of cultural assets, allow the public at large to enjoy, here in Malta, works of an international standard. This initiative was also possible thanks to the Mucha Trust, to John and Sarah Mucha, as well as to the staff of Heritage Malta, who always rise to the occasion. Joseph Said, Chairman.

Strasbourg 1900 - Carrefour des arts nouveaux
Dates:1/01/2050-1/01/2999

Guidebook - Secessional Architecture of Rijeka (Croatia)
Dates:1/01/2050-1/01/2999
Rijeka was for a long time a very important port and industrial town, but from 2000 its production diminished. Now the city is trying to convert itself into a touristic centre with emphasis on local historical and architectural values. Within the city territory, the main criteria regarding the selection of buildings and their inclusion into the guide framework are determined by the need to show to the citizens and tourists the existing Secessional buildings within the longer or shorter walk through the city centre. The buildings are chosen because of their importance, complete shape, composition of volume, the manner in which the interior space was constituted and because of the typical elements of the façade ornamentation suggesting the Secession decorative nature in its outer morphological configuration. The historical criterion embraces the early 20th century, i.e. the first two decades including also proto-rationalist architecture which announced more recent modern styles(1900-1925). During this period, Rijeka was ruled by Budapest governor while the architects were educated either in Budapest or in Vienna, so the architecture of Rijeka demonstrates a specific shape under various European influences of Secession style.

Source: Metro.

Barcelona and Modernity: Picasso, Gaudí, Miró, Dalí
Dates:1/01/2050-1/01/2999
By William H. Robinson, Jordi Falgàs, and Carmen Belen Lord, with foreword by Robert Hughs, 2007. Published in conjunction with the exhibition “Barcelona and Modernity: Gaudí to Dalí” at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, March 7, 2007–June 3, 2007. During the years after the “September Revolution” of 1868, Barcelona experienced tremendous industrial growth and emerged as the most politically and culturally progressive city in Spain. This volume examines a remarkable 71-year period when Barcelona transformed itself into one of the most dynamic centers of modernist art and architecture in Europe. Focusing on the Catalan Renaixença, Modernisme, Noucentisme, avant-garde movements of the early 20th century, and artistic reactions to the Spanish civil war, essays by an extraordinary international team of scholars offer new insights into the work of Pablo Picasso, Antoni Gaudí, Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, and scores of others, by setting them in context with the art of their teachers, colleagues, and rivals. Featuring more than 250 works in a variety of media, this intriguing book explores how Catalan artists derived inspiration from local traditions while contributing their own innovations to international modernism. 524 pages, 600 full-color illustrations, 9 in. x 12 1/4 in. Louis Comfort Tiffany and Laurelton Hall—An Artist’s Country Estate
Dates:1/01/2050-1/01/2999
By Alice Cooney Frelinghuysen, with contributions by Elizabeth Hutchinson, Julia Meech, Jennifer Perry Thalheimer, Barbara Veith, and Richard Guy Wilson, 2006. Published in conjunction with the exhibition "Louis Comfort Tiffany and Laurelton Hall—An Artist’s Country Estate" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, November 21, 2006–May 20, 2007. Laurelton Hall, Louis Comfort Tiffany's (American, 1848–1933) extraordinary country estate in Oyster Bay, New York, completed in 1905, was the epitome of Tiffany's achievement and in many ways defined this multifaceted artist. Tiffany designed every aspect of the project inside and out, creating a total aesthetic environment. This publication accompanies an exhibition that reveals Tiffany’s most personal art, bringing into focus this remarkable artist who lavished as much care and creativity on the design and furnishing of his home and gardens as he did on all the wide-ranging media in which he worked. Although the house tragically burned to the ground in 1957, many of its surviving architectural elements and interior characteristics are included in this volume. Also featured are Tiffany's personal collections of his own work—breathtaking stained-glass windows, paintings, glass and ceramic vases—as well as the artist's collections of Japanese, Chinese, and Native American works of art. 276 pages, 350 illustrations (235 in full color), 9 in. x 12 in. Available in hardcover (clothbound, with jacket) or paper.

Dates:1/01/2050-1/01/2999
The relatively unknown Art Nouveau heritage of Łódź is presented in this richly illustrated book, which was preceded by the exhibition ‘Art Nouveau in Łódź’ (October-December 2006), organized by the author, Wisława Jordan. As opposed to almost completely ruined Warsaw, Łódź kept its original Art Nouveau architecture – over 100 buildings and numerous interiors of industralists’ residences built in different historical styles (stained-glass windows are of particular value). A heritage worth discovering! Original title: ‘W kręgu łódzkiej secesji’, Literatura Publishing Office, Łódź 2006, 432 pages, 412 illustrations.
