New publication “Le Bruxelles de Horta”

In 2023, Brussels, and by extension the whole country, celebrates the year of Art Nouveau. And who better to represent this revolutionary style than the famous architect Victor Horta? This practical guide takes you on a tour of his many creations in Brussels, from public buildings to private houses and monuments, all built in the art nouveau style.

Born in Ghent in 1861, Victor Horta was a pioneer with his architecture: think of the typical decorative forms, the experimental arrangement of the interiors around the central skylight, the differences in level, the unusual glazing, the staircases and the winter gardens. Think also of all the metal and glass, which were to become important elements of the construction. In doing so, he ushered in a completely new architectural era.

It reviews, in chronological order, around thirty of the famous architect’s jewels in Brussels, with the help of more than 200 archive images and photos taken by Bastin & Evrard. The text, written by Françoise Aubry, art historian and honorary curator of the Horta Museum, deals with the specificities of the architecture and certain themes.

A must for your Horta tour in Brussels.
