In 1999, following an initiative launched by the Brussels Region’s Department of Historic Sites and Monuments, a group of institutions from European cities with rich Art Nouveau heritage – from Helsinki to Barcelona and from Glasgow to Ljubljana decided to come together to form the first European cooperation network.
Organised as a non-profit association under Belgian law since 2007, the objectives of the Réseau Art Nouveau Network asbl are :
In 2013, the RANN received a special mention from the jury of the Europa Nostra Awards. International recognition for its first fourteen years of cooperation.
In 2014, the RANN became a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.
Since its creation, the RANN has obtained co-funding from the European Commission for five European projects.
